ASOC has been formed to create the Auto Stakeholders Ownership Plan (ESOP) for auto industry employees, retirees and stakeholders. The committee believes that the key to curing and restoring the competitiveness of the U.S. auto industry is to maximize the ownership opportunities and responsibilities of all workers, from the assembly line to top executives in the companies including the key suppliers and dealers.
We need you to chapion our cause to set a new precedent in the social contract that unions negotiate for their members, to revitalize the auto industry and all related industries, so they can become more competitive in the global marketplace.
Thank you for your time and support!
All results will be used as data in our feasibility studies and business plan when putting this plan into action. Any personal information will remain confidential within our immediate Board Members only. Only numbers will be utilized for studies and business plans.
Robert Mason, the Auto Stakeholders Ownership Corporation-Chairman and former Chrysler member of management and I, Michele Mauder-ASOC President and former UAW Chrysler Assembler and Union Representative are personally writing you to address the developments in the auto industry.
Stakeholders can have an upside for their concessions by being owners/shareholders in the companies they’ve supported. Today the Stakeholders have a legitimate concern that the Chrysler/Fiat acquisition will follow the patterns established by Daimler and Cerberus, and Chrysler will, once again, be in duress. Critics point out that GM’s current direction uses taxpayer dollars to eliminate domestic production and produce cars in China for sale in U.S. market. Our Corporation is developing the financial capacity to purchase the UAW’s and Government’s unwanted equity in Chrysler and GM to keep this vital industry American owned. We need your assistance to be prepared to act when the opportunity presents itself.
The UAW’s equity ( IOU note) is for the VEBA retirees health care trust only, not equity for their working members.
The Auto Stakeholders Ownership Corporation believes that Stakeholder Ownership via an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), which would grant equity ownership to Chrysler/GM employees, dealers and key suppliers, will establish the right incentives for all Stakeholders to transform the auto industry. Stakeholder Ownership keeps the U.S. auto industry viable in America, protects jobs and provides a path for the dealer body to truly participate in the industry’s revitalization. Dealers, suppliers and employees have always shared the risks, but now have less than an equal distribution of the rewards.
It is essential to transform the U.S. domestic auto industry into one capable of success at home and abroad. The stakes could not be higher; hundreds of thousands of auto industry jobs are on the line, billions in unfunded pension obligations are at stake, billions in future state and federal taxes are at risk, and our country’s capacity to produce weaponry for self defense has been compromised.
We agree that new fuel efficient products are needed to bring customers back to the domestic brands. In this specific regard, limited joint ventures or alliances can prove beneficial. However using taxpayer dollars to fund the wholesale off-shoring of the American auto industry at the expense of secured creditors, employees, suppliers and a dealer body that has invested billions is not just flawed; it's unprecedented.
Over the last five years employee ranks have been cut in half, the dealer body rationalized and the supply base pushed to the edge. ASOC is proposing the only viable alternative to this crisis, which invites all the Stakeholders to participate in the solution. The involved employees, dealers, and suppliers are the only ones with the ability and commitment to forge a new direction towards long-term, profitable growth.
The Auto Stakeholders Ownership Corporation pledges to make a good faith effort to achieve broadened ownership for the entire stakeholder community. To achieve this goal, we need your assistance of financial support.
Our donation request is $50 per person or $75 per couple. You will receive updates regularly, access to our website and actionable information. Most importantly, you will know someone is working with the political and business community to broaden ownership to the Stakeholders of the auto industry.
Please, make your checks payable to ASOC and mail to the above noted address.
Thank you for supporting the only effort that invites the Americans that build and sell these vehicles to forge a new and independent direction towards long-term, profitable growth.
